Over the past three years from the time I truly began to love anime and manga, three series have changed my life. One of these was Air.

Air takes place in a small sea-side town where a wandering puppet master meets an odd girl who dreams of flying.

I began this series about a year after my diagnosis with high-functioning autism. It’s something that helped me move on, let go, accept myself, and made me cry.

This video is something I made a couple of months ago with Autistry Studios in mind. Sit back and enjoy.

- Sincerely, Devon.

(This is a quick update on me for the reading pleasure of Janet and some of the other Autistry Studios teachers. )

Hello Autistry Studios! I am now comfortably in my third week of high school. Really? Three weeks? oy…

Things are, as anticipated, different. But so far 90% of the changes are gladly welcomed. Mostly, I’m happy that people leave me to my own business instead of having someone screaming at me every time I turn the corner because they think it’s funny. Now that I’m at a new school, and not to mention older and wiser, I’ve been able to find a few “people”.

I’m still doing a bit of editing, but mostly I waste my free time on YouTube. Luckily for those who enjoy my work, I was inspired by a certain video that I just stumbled across. Now I’m determined to put my heart and soul into this next one I’m making. I showed my mom what I have so far, and her reaction was: “I hate the music, I’m sick of this ‘Fruits Basket’ crap, but your editing is phenomenal.”

I took it as a compliment.

As for my voice-acting, I continue to work myself into a nervous gelatinous wreck. Recently I received a call-back for a part I tried out for on YouTube during the summer. It’s an unofficial radio-play called “Project: Athena”. Of course, since I have little social engagements, I replied in a matter of hours after the call-backs were posted. I personally thought I nailed the emotion, but my pronunciation needs work and I am in desperate need of a new microphone.A friend of mine also made my day this week, saying she looked up to me and thought I was a good actress.

There isn’t much going on right now, but I’m really looking forward to the upcoming new Autistry Studios session. (There is one, right?)

Best wishes!

I made the YouTube video “Let the Monster Rise” from one of my favorite movies “Repo!
The video was my first filmmaking workshop project. I rather enjoyed making it because it showed something that I really enjoyed and I learned how to use Corel Filmmaking Studio. Janet and Nate assisted me with editing and adding effects. I got all the pictures and images from the internet, the hand in the video belongs to Janet, and the song is one of the more intensely climactic songs in the movie. We’d love to embed the video, but the company that made the movie, Lionsgate, has content claimed the video, so we can’t.

After many, many weeks of editing and procrastination, the first part of Bupim’s grand adventure is available on YouTube! Yayz!

Unlike my previous video about Larry, “Bupim’s Quest I” contains an actual plot. The evil quasi-robotic villain BVG is doing vaguely evil stuff, so Bupim has to go and stop him. Along the way, he encounters three bosses, including Ghost Guy, a ghost who looks like something out of Pac-Man, Uberfly, a giant dragonfly with extreme levels of geekiness, and TVon, a giant… thing that apparently likes card games.

This video was mostly made with stop-motion applied to clay models (thus the bad lip-synching), but there are also still drawings (for the BVG pictures and the post-credits stinger), pixel drawings (for the Ghost Guy battle), live-action stick puppets (for the Uberfly battle), and live-action card games (for the TVon battle). Because card games are serious business.

The video also has a guest appearance by Larry Lysosome, some references to Yu-Gi-Oh The Abridged Series, and cards with completely original and never-before-seen characters (please note that the Jaun card is not meant to make any resemblance towards anyone actually named John).

(Note that Bupim has not actually gotten to BVG yet. He’ll finish the quest in Part 2 of… DRAGON BALL Z!!! BUPIM’S QUEST!!!)

Woot! After much, MUCH work, and 83 drawings, I made my first video that includes my own art work! *Yaaaaay!* With a song that’s over 6 minutes long, and is sung in a language from a country on the other side of the world, I knew in the beginning this would probably be a LOT of work… But, *oy.* what a headache. The finished project, now on YouTube is 7 and a half minutes long.

The song is one I found long ago, sung by the VOCALOID system. The story of the song, and my video combined is that a young boy lost his sister and builds a robot in her image. Unfortunately, that robot has no genuine emotions – no “heart”. The boy dies trying to create an artificial heart for her.

Several hundred years after his death, the robot becomes curious of the unfinished program. When she programs herself, the wave of emotions unleashes her tears and a singing voice. The robot sends a message to the scientist and her past self, her lovely song programming her past self with a second heart. Shortly after, the heart crushes her system, the size and weight too much for her. At the last second she smiles and stops moving.
